The children’s sculpture garden is a space created as part of the Tiger Moth Square refurbishment in Irlam, Salford. A pathway runs through the sculpture garden and connects the square to Moorfield Primary School. We designed the space as a meeting place and play area.

Our play ‘ Pebble Sculptures’ are large smooth glacial granite boulders, with robust sculpted frost proof ceramic inserts that follow the profile of the stone. These sculpted boulders are in the style of the artwork and landscaping in the rest of the square. Surrounding the sculptures is a detailed poured rubber safety surface, making the area safe and fun for children to climb and play. The circular walling that defines the area also serves as seating.

Five hand carved timber bollards, made from re-cycled hard wood, by Conrad Cookson, mark the entrance to the garden. They carry the same decorative motifs as the sculptures.
