The aim of this project was to create a lively and welcoming artwork to enhance the entrance to Stepney Library in London. Redlands Primary School children drew out the colourful designs for this ceramic floor area on the theme of patterned rugs, which were then painted with glaze onto plain white tiles.  The tiled areas are situated at either side of the entrance to the library, covering an area of approximately 9 sq metres. Rows of flint pebbles were set between the tiles, which link in with the newly landscaped surroundings.
