As lead artists we have redesigned many public spaces, making them more functional and visually appealing. We work with, town and city departments and at every stage during a commission we are advised by members of the local community. Tiger Moth Square was a neglected and bleak residential square, giving an impression of grey cracked paving slabs and broken glass. We increased and raised the expanse of grass so that it's retaining wall is at low seating height. Red clay brick work replaced the grey paving slabs and a tall fibre optic lighting sculpture is placed in the centre of the square. The children's sculpture garden is part of a new entrance for Moorfield Primary School. It is designed as an appealing waiting area for parents and young children. New 'Pebble Bollards' along one edge of the site act as a barrier stopping joy riders' from accessing the square and beautiful 'Pebble Railings' protect a line of shops from 'ram-raiding'. Batley Bats is a site that we designed for Kirklees Metropolitan Council. We redesigned a triangular site that is dominated by the York stone gable end of a Victorian warehouse and is part of a brash traffic junction. We designed a large gothic arch equal in scale to the gable end and improved pedestrian access to and around the site.
